Whorl Wind was a liver chestnut mare, bred at Morgan Equine Stud, and graded with the British Hanoverian Horse Society. Her dam, a thoroughbred, was by Tower Walk, an eventing stallion.

Her sire was World Classic, ¾ brother to the world famous Hanoverian stallion Weltmeyer (Hanoverian Stallion of the Year 1998). This gave tremendous show jumping links as well as a proven dressage pedigree. Both stallions are by World Cup I, 1996 Hanoverian Stallion of the Year. During his breeding career he has produced 49 state premium mares and 17 licensed sons, including Walt Disney I and II, Woodstock and Weltmeyer. This breeding gives Whorl Wind stunning elastic paces that cover the ground, and excellent conformation.

Whorl Wind's first two foals, both fillies, were by the dressage stallion Pascal. Prada and Premiere have both inherited their mother's stunning looks and kind temperament, but also their father's impressive paces. We are delighted to also have Premiere in our Briarwood herd.

Whorly's third foal, and first with us, Ridgeway First Light, was awarded CHAPS Broodmare Champion 2012 with her first foal by H Tobago. She is currently living at Siangie Stud in Cumbria.

Whorl Wind was the holder of two Broodmare Diplomas from the British Equestrian Federation, due to the success of her progeny. Both Premiere and Ridgeway First Light gained dressage first premiums in 2008, and Premiere was the reserve champion dressage yearling at Sunnybank Equestrian Centre.

In 2010, Whorly had a liver chestnut filly by the Pascal son Pik Polo. Briarwood Pikture Perfekt has the athletic paces of her dam and her sire’s fantastic temperament.

To our surprise, Whorly produced her first colt in 2011. A tall, strong chestnut colt by the same sire as Ridgeway First Light.

Whorly sadly left us in November 2021 and we will always remember her with love.
