Galaxie was what many people would call a good old-fashioned warmblood. Her Oldenburg pedigree was faultless, her sire being the Olympic stallion Giorgione and her dam being the result of the excellent cross of Donnerhall x Pik Bube.
The strength of these lines means that Galaxie's progeny have an impeccable mare line. Galaxie was bred by Dr. Bechtolsheimer and began her life as a dressage horse. Unfortunately a tendon injury prevented her from executing some of the movements needed at higher levels of dressage and she was retired from riding at a relatively young age.
During her broodmare career, Galaxie bred a stunning coloured colt by the stallion Hollyland O'Donovan (Tullynessle Objet D'Art) and then another colt, Ridgeway Pathfinder, by Pik Polo. Galaxie had a phenomenally good temperament, and we were delighted that this was passed on in spades to her foals.
In 2009 we bought Galaxie’s dam Deutsche Eiche, and younger half-sister Sunday. In this year, Galaxie was graded with both the Warmblood Breeders’ Studbook (UK) and the British Hanoverian Horse Society.
Her 2010 colt Briarwood Supernova (by Showmaker) was awarded a First Premium at the BEF Futurity at Solihull.
Galaxie’s final foal, another colt, was born in June 2011. He was by the athletic young stallion Wolkenderry, and we believe him to be her best foal yet. When presented at the BEF Futurity, Oscar missed out on an Elite mark by 0.04. He also went to the WBS(UK) Annual Show, where he was placed in a strong colt class. We are delighted that he had found a perfect home with Nicky.
Sadly in November 2011, we lost Galaxie. She was a wonderful mother with a fantastic temperament and is very much missed by all of us.
