The second foal from our champion mare Deutsche Eiche was born early, without warning, on 10th June 2011. He was expertly cared for by his surrogate mother May.

Spike soon proved himself to be a replica of his sire Samba Hit III, both in looks and in character. Nothing seems to faze this gelding, and his natural inquisitiveness is something he has definitely inherited from his dam Dorle.

 

His sire Samba Hit III is currently enjoying success at Inter I with Gareth Hughes. He is an athletic and modern stallion with an exceptional temperament, and we hope that Spike will follow in his footsteps.

Long legged and elegant, Spike is an excellent example of a modern dressage warmblood. His pedigree contains some of the biggest names in the dressage world (Sandro Hit, Brentano, Donnerhall, Pik Bube) and his easy going nature makes him a pleasure to deal with.

Spike has a wonderful attitude, being bold and confident and is easy to do in all respects. To our delight, Spike found a wonderful home with Jan in June 2015. Their BD career began in earnest in 2018 and we can’t wait to watch their journey together.
