Briarwood Notorious

Negro x Gribaldi x Balzflug

Dam: Victoria Vribraldi

7th June 2015

Victoria's fifth Briarwood foal was born in June 2015; a very tall, leggy chestnut colt. Silas is full brother to the beautiful Briarwood Negroponte and we hope that this young man will be just as special. With four white socks and a blaze, Silas certainly has plenty of dressage 'bling'.

His pedigree contains both Negro and Gribaldi, two of the most prolific KWPN dressage sires of all time. Negro is obviously the sire of World, Olympic and European Dressage Champion Valegro.

With very uphill paces, Silas carries himself with grace and elegance. His wonderful movement, coupled with his easy going temperament and excellent conformation, makes him an ideal prospect for an ambitious amateur or professional.

Silas went to his new home with Ian and Julie at weaning, to join his new ‘brother’ Kenzo. At the age of three, Silas went to GSH Dressage to begin his dressage career. In March 2019, he came second in the BD Young Horse 4 year old class at the Myerscough Premier League, qualifying for the semi-finals.

Silas found a new home with Georgie in July 2019 and they both moved to Headmore Stud, where Georgie is a rider.

In 2021, Georgie and Silas qualified for the Regionals at Preliminary Silver and Novice Silver Freestyle. To our delight, they became Regional Preliminary Champions and qualified for the Winter Championships at Hartpury College.

Not only did they come third in a highly contested Prelim class at the Winter Championships, but they also became Reserve Novice Freestyle Winter Champions. Georgie won the title on her other ride!
