Briarwood Negroponte
The final foal of 2014 was eagerly anticipated, being by Negro, sire of the legendary Valegro, and out of our wonderful mare Victoria Vribraldi (Gribaldi x Balzflug).

Well worth the wait, Blackberry was born a few days past his due date on 3rd June 2014. A jet black colt with four white socks and a star and stripe, this foal is very special. Bought in-utero by Lucy, we are so excited about this young man's future.

Negro is a sire with a formidable reputation, not only as a competition horse but as a champion sire. He has attained a place in history as one of the all time greats in dressage breeding, and has been installed into the KWPN Hall of Fame as a preferent stallion with an index of 150 (92%).

His own sire Ferro competed at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, assisting the Netherlands in winning the Silver medal. He sadly died in 2005, leaving behind a legacy of licensed stallions, elite broodmares and performance horses.

We were so thrilled with Blackberry that we repeated the cross, and were delighted to welcome his full brother Briarwood Notorious on in June 2015.
Blackberry was backed at the beginning of 2017 and is having a well earned rest before beginning his ridden career as a four year old.
